20-Minute Turkey Penne in Tomato Garlic Sauce
Quick turkey pasta with a savory tomato sauce fits the 20-minute weeknight pasta request.
Ingredients
Steps
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne until just shy of al dente, about 1 minute less than the package says.
While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and ground turkey, season with salt and pepper, and cook until the turkey is no longer pink and the onion softens.
Stir in the garlic, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes if using; cook until the paste darkens slightly and smells toasty.
Add crushed tomatoes and chicken broth, then simmer until the sauce thickens a little and the turkey is fully cooked, about 3 to 4 minutes.
Drain the pasta, add it to the skillet, and toss with the sauce until the noodles are glossy and coated. Loosen with a splash of pasta water if needed.
Top with parmesan and basil, then serve hot.
