How does the aisle sorter decide where an item goes?
Each line is checked against a table of more than 4,600 grocery names, the same table inside the RecipePT app.
We normalize the wording, strip quantities and marketing words, then find the head noun. "Organic boneless
skinless chicken breast" files under Protein because "chicken breast" does.
Which store sections does it use?
Ten: Produce, Bakery, Protein, Dairy, Pantry, Spices, Frozen, Beverages, Household, and Other. They come out in
the order most stores flow, produce first, so the sorted list reads like one lap around the store instead of a
scavenger hunt.
Why did my item land in Other?
Because we did not recognize it, and we would rather tell you than guess. A silent wrong guess buries an item in
a section you already walked past. Rewording usually fixes it: "that thing from the store" stays in Other,
"manchego" goes to Dairy.
Does it understand quantities, brands, and the word frozen?
Yes. Quantities, units, and packaging words are ignored, so "2 lbs chicken thighs" sorts like "chicken thighs".
The word frozen anywhere wins, because frozen chicken is a different trip than chicken. And fresh herbs go to
Produce even though the jarred kind lives in Spices.
Is my grocery list uploaded anywhere?
No. The sorting runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored on a server, and the
page works the same on your phone in the store as it does at your desk.
Can I print the sorted list or copy it into another app?
Yes. Copy list puts the sorted sections on your clipboard as plain text, ready for Notes or a message. Print
strips the page down to just the sections so it fits on one sheet, with a checkable box next to each item.
